Swedish UAS manufacturer CybAero delivered the first ever customer service last Friday. The mission was carried out using an unmanned VTOL UAV on behalf of FOI - Swedish Defence Research Agency – and this was the first of several customer flights in the near future.
Mission consisted of testing various types of sensors and the vehicle used for the mission flight was one of the two vehicles destined for delivery to Scandicraft, an order received by CybAero earlier this year.
The flight was carried out by the CybAero team and the APID UAV helicopter platform was airborne for close to one hour, in temperatures below zero degrees centigrade and various snow fall.
– This is a breakthrough for us in the service sector. We believe more customers with civilian missions applicable for our helicopters will choose to buy the service itself initially, instead of a complete system, says Mikael Hult, CEO of CybAero. This is more cost efficient for the customer and generates both revenue and more flight hours for us.
– The FOI order rounds up a great year for CybAero, beginning in January with us performing Sweden’s first public autonomous demo flight ever in downtown Stockholm. In late spring we accepted an invitation by the Pakistan Navy to fly a maritime mission from a frigate, which was a great challenge.
– Furthermore we have noticed a considerably increased interest in our products during this autumn. We are currently pursuing dialogues with several large international industrial groups regarding joint efforts on sales and development and we are very optimistic, Hult concludes.
